  • Brain in Hand will share how technology can help students recognise their own goals and strengths, create solutions for overcoming problems and aid them towards independently managing time, work, and mental health and wellbeing. Our session will cover how the system builds capability and supports students with their mental health and share real life student stories and outcomes.

  • During this session, you will hear inspiring case studies of those who have used Inspiration to improve their studies, work-life and personal life. Plus, demonstrations to illustrate how intuitive Inspiration 10 is to use, and how powerful its output can be.

⌚ 2:30 Aspire  - a detailed overview of the interactive support platform.

  • In this session, you will gain a detailed overview on how Aspire supports disabled people within education and employment.
    You'll gain insight to the four key pillars of support:
    - Study/Workplace skills
    - Assistive Technology
    - Mental Health and Wellbeing
    - Career Related Learning / Career Progression

⌚ 9:30 Glean: A note taking and transcription assistive technology solution for education and the workplace.

  • Glean is a simple and effective note taking, transcription and task management tool, making lectures, meetings, interviews and training sessions more accessible for students and employees with disabilities. Allowing individuals to participate fully without the worry of notetaking, it leads to a significant improvement in the comprehension of what is being said and what they need to do. The outcome: better notes, transcripts of important conversations and an organised task list.

    Helena from Glean will demonstrate Glean, as well as share some of their latest case studies.

  • One of the fundamental parts of studying at university is research. It comes in all shapes and sizes. Research doesn't just come in one form either. Many courses involve collecting data from a multitude of different resources. From books, websites and PDF journals to evidential research such as photographs and tables.

⌚ 2:30 Dragon and the incredible difference it can make for people with a disability.

  • This presentation looks at Dragon Professional and whether it is good enough to help people with disabilities such as dyslexia that make writing difficult, or painful conditions such as arthritis, making it difficult for someone to use the computer keyboard and mouse, perhaps limiting their ability to work, study, or access the internet or emails to keep in touch with friends and family.

  • Use the Scholarcy Summary tool as a starting point for appraising any book or article – and get more insight than you would from just the abstract or synopsis.

  • Arran Smith, UK Dyslexia and SEND Consultant for Microsoft will present this session, outlining Microsoft's inclusivity mission and detailing the latest assistive technology features to be found in Windows and Office 365

  • The KAZ presentation will include the following: An overview of the course
  • Benefits of touch typing for neuro-divergent and VI learners
  • Demonstration of specialised accessibility features:
  • Unique ‘preference screen’ addressing visual disturbances, Meares Irlen and visual impairment
  • New multi-sensory challenge modules, designed to help learners with short-term memory and to build muscle memory and automaticity

  • In this session Eric Perry (Albion Computers) and David Maguire (Apple Professional Learning Specialist) will share the latest accessibility features with iPad and model their everyday application in the classroom and business. We will take a look at the full range of accessibility features from the most basic to the more complex and explore how shortcuts can maximise accessibility for users in a range of ways
